Hemlines are heading north

With Summer now upon us…hemlines are heading north.  So it’s time to get your pins ready for skirt season. And… there’s an easy way to do this naturally.

By simply heading to the kitchen pantry you will find all you need to get your legs and skin summer worthy.

To make an easy at-home exfoliator, simply mix extra virgin olive oil, together with raw sugar, for a do-it-yourself body scrub that will have your aesthetician swooning and short-shorts calling…

Why exfoliating the skin is important

Why exfoliate? exfoliation removes the barrier of dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncovers fresh new cells below. This opens the way for moisturising products to penetrate more deeply into the skin, which makes them more effective. In short, a regular exfoliating routine will leave your skin looking fresh and healthy.

save our skin's easy at-home exfoliator recipe

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of sugar
1/4 cup xtra virgin olive oil
Optional: Add a few drops of your favourite essential oil or try a Magical Golden Oil.

I also like to add herbs and spices: 1tbs of ground cinnamon, 1tbs of vanilla extract, 1tbs of rosemary and sage.

Instructions:

Mix the above ingredients together in a small bowl. Then while in the shower, smooth the mixture onto your skin using gentle, circular motions. Concentrate on your thighs to really get your blood flowing, knees, elbows, heels, feet and along your calves and shins. You can store any product you don’t use in an air tight jar, olive oil acts as a natural preservative and will keep your scrub fresh for at least a few weeks.
Once you have massaged the scrub all over - rinse off thoroughly– the oil and any essential oils will really infuse now and the texture of your scrub will go from slightly course to silky. Note: You will make quite a mess in the shower and be careful not to slip.
Pat your skin dry and then for extra nourishment… apply a magical golden oil to your skin from your toes to your nose.
The result = pure skin magic.

The Benefits of Sugar in Skin Care

Sugar is full of alpha hydroxy acids that help plump the skin, plus it's coarse enough to exfoliate the skin but soft enough to dilute when you add water.

The Benefits of Olive Oil in Skin Care

Olive oil has been used since biblical times as a magical beauty multitasker that helps lock in moisture without clogging pores.  Naturally, olive oil is packed with anti-aging antioxidants and hydrating squalene, making it superb for hair, skin, and nails.

Repeat once a week.

Njoy!
